Travel to Launceston – Sunday, 1 November 2026
 

Please plan to arrive in Launceston on Sunday 1st of November, whether you are:

• Flying to Tasmania; or

• Travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania and sleeping in a recliner.
   

If You Are Flying to Launceston

• Your vehicle must be delivered to Spirit of Tasmania Freight by no later than 3:00 pm on 1 November.

• After dropping off your vehicle, you will need to make your own way back to Geelong or the airport, depending on your vehicle drop-off location and your flight arrangements.

• Thunderbolt Run will arrange your vehicle freight booking for you.

• The cost is $595 one-way, including GST.

• Thunderbolt Run will invoice you directly for this amount.

• Once your freight booking is confirmed, we will send you your vehicle booking number.

• You will need to provide this booking number to the freight staff when dropping off your vehicle.
   

Accommodation – Launceston

Please book 2 nights at Peppers Silo Launceston:

• Sunday, 1 November

• Monday, 2 November
   

Monday, 2 November – Vehicle Collection (For Those Who Flew to Launceston)

• On the morning of Monday 2nd of November, all drivers who flew to Launceston will travel by charter bus to collect their vehicles.

• The departure time will be confirmed closer to the date.

• Once everyone has collected their vehicles, we will drive back to Peppers Silo Launceston.

• You can then relax and enjoy the remainder of the day before the Thunderbolt Run event begins on Tuesday 3rd November.

Friday, 6 November – Return Journey

• The Thunderbolt Run event will finish after lunch on Friday 6th of November.

• We will be returning to the mainland aboard the Spirit of Tasmania.

• There are currently plenty of cabins available for the return journey.

• You will need to make your own return Spirit of Tasmania booking, including your vehicle and preferred onboard accommodation.

• Book directly through the Spirit of Tasmania website.
