Devil’s Playground Tasmania
Getting You & Your Car to Tasmania
There are two options available, depending on whether you would prefer to travel across on the Spirit of Tasmania with your car, or send your car across earlier as freight and fly into Launceston.
OPTION 1 – TRAVEL WITH YOUR CAR ON THE SPIRIT OF TASMANIA
You can book the spirit of Tasmania via this link: www.spiritoftasmania.com.au
Step 1 – Monday 2 November
Arrive at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal by approximately 3:00pm with your vehicle.
Step 2 – Your booking.
You will need to have previously booked your vehicle onto the Spirit of Tasmania, along with either:
● A cabin for the overnight crossing, or
● A recliner for the overnight crossing.
Step 3 – Travel overnight
You and your car will travel across to Tasmania together on Monday night.
IMPORTANT:
If you wish to travel across on the Spirit of Tasmania with your car, Monday night is the crossing you will need to take to be in Tasmania in time for the start of Devil’s Playground on Tuesday morning.
Drive and meet the rest of the group at: Peppers Silo Launceston Hotel for 8:30am Registration.
Peppers Silo Launceston Hotel - 89 to 91 Lindsay Street, Invermay.
OPTION 2 – SEND YOUR CAR ACROSS AS FREIGHT & FLY TO LAUNCESTON
If you would prefer to fly into Tasmania rather than travel overnight on the Spirit of Tasmania, you can send your car across earlier as freight.
Step 1 – Sunday 1 November
Your vehicle must be at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal before 3:00pm, the vehicle can be dropped up to one week earlier. (Keep in mind your vehicle will be stored outside, not undercover)
Important: You must have pre-booked your vehicle freight through Thunderbolt Run for freight only transport with Spirit of Tasmania.
Thunderbolt Run will issue you an invoice for the vehicle freight of $595 plus GST for one-way travel. Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive a freight booking number, which you will need to provide to the Spirit of Tasmania staff when dropping off your vehicle.
Step 2 – Fly to Launceston
Once your car has been delivered to the terminal, you can make your way to Melbourne Airport and fly to Launceston on Sunday evening.
Step 3 – Accommodation in Launceston
You will stay at the Peppers Silo Launceston Hotel, 89 to 91 Lindsay Street, Invermay.
Contact: 03 6700 0600
Book for: Sunday night & Monday night
The cost of your flight to Launceston and these two nights of accommodation, alongside the Spirit of Tasmania freight costs are at your own expense.
Step 4 – Monday morning vehicle collection
On Monday morning, Thunderbolt Run will organise and pay for a chartered bus to transport drivers to the ferry terminal to collect their vehicles.
Once you have collected your vehicle and returned to Peppers Silo Launceston Hotel, you’ll have the opportunity that afternoon to give your car a clean and get everything ready for the adventure ahead. Ensuring your car will be looking its best and ready to hit the road for the official start of Devil’s Playground the following morning.
RETURN JOURNEY:
For those returning to the mainland at the end of the event, we recommend booking a standard passenger voyage on the Spirit of Tasmania with your vehicle on the night of Friday the 6th.
DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND BEGINS – TUESDAY AT 8:30AM REGISTRATION FOR A 10:00AM DEPARTURE.
Whichever option you choose, we need everyone and their vehicles ready in Launceston for our 10:00am Tuesday morning start.
Please make sure your Spirit of Tasmania crossing or freight arrangements, flights and any required accommodation are booked well in advance.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Tasmania and share what is going to be an incredible driving experience.
